Integration with battery packs would improve the battery life of EV, says GODI

GODI India, the country’s leading company to have homegrown technology to make lithium-ion cells, recently announced that it has manufactured India’s first ever 3000F high power supercapacitor. R&D Manager Dr Milan Jana and Sr scientist Dr Pushpendra Singh have designed, developed and demonstrated the supercapacitor’s capability at the company’s Hyderabad facility.

Supercapacitors are the devices used in power-smoothening, pitch-control, start-stop, regenerative-braking, smart-grid, active heave compensation, and specialty UPS applications. The official statement said that the integration of these supercapacitors along with battery packs would improve the battery life multi-folds in Electric Vehicle (EV) and Renewable Energy Storage System (ESS) applications.

The founder and CEO of GODI India, Mr Mahesh Godi stated: “GODI India is producing cost-effective and plant-based Carbon-Carbon supercapacitors using water-based electrode processing. We have a variety of supercapacitor products ranging up to 3000F. At present, we are in the process of developing high-voltage lithium-ion capacitors, as well. We are also working on hybrid capacitors with higher energy densities to replace Lead-Acid batteries in a wide range of applications. These capacitors are environmentally sustainable, green and clean, and highly recyclable.”

GODI India is an R&D-focused cell manufacturer, which is BIS certified to sell lithium-ion cells made with homegrown technology. It has also entered into a PPP for large-scale advanced lithium-ion cell manufacturing with CSIR-CECRI. GODI India claims to apply waste to wealth concepts to develop supercapacitor products that offer higher power delivery, minimal ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance), excellent energy density, better shock and vibration protection, and lakhs of charge-discharge cycles.
