Nikon may set up a manufacturing unit in India in order to ramp up the country’s contribution to its global sales by around six-fold over the next three years. “For Nikon, India is one of the most prospective markets. Of our worldwide sales, India contributes only one per cent, which was around Rs 450 crore last year. Within the next three years, we want to take this to 5-6 per cent,” Hiroshi Takashina, managing director, Nikon India told PTI. Though the Japanese digital imaging firm has no immediate plans to establish a manufacturing plant in India, “but we may consider one, if the market grows further,” Takashina added.
