According to a report, Samsung has decided to stop production at its only TV factory in China by the end of November. This is the latest developments in series of moves by the South Korean firm to shift production from the world’s second-largest economy.
An official spokesman shared that the TV factory in Tianjin is the only Samsung TV production base in China. This decision is part of “ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency” in its production facilities. As reported that factory has about 300 workers and some of the workers and equipment are expected to be retained.
Ending production of LCD panels
The latest exit leaves Samsung in China with a home appliance factory in Suzhou and chip production facilities in Suzhou and Xian. The decision was made following Samsung’s display unit confirming separately last week that it is selling off a majority state in its Suzhour LCD production unit to TCL’s Star Optoelectronics Technology Unit. Earlier Samsung had also decided to end all of its production of LCD panels in South Korea and China by the end of this year.
