  • With a focus on circularity and cost-effective solutions, this program targets government bodies and large enterprises.
  • Discover how HP’s Renew program reduces electronic waste and meets India’s growing demand for sustainable IT options.

HP is promoting circularity and sustainability by expanding its ‘Renew’ program in India, offering a range of refurbished HP computer equipment. This initiative is driven by India’s significant market potential and HP’s established brand presence in the country. The primary targets for this program are government bodies and large private enterprises.

Refurbished electronics refer to previously owned equipment that has undergone thorough inspection, repairs, and testing, meeting the manufacturer’s standards for efficiency and performance. They are sold at more affordable prices than brand-new counterparts, offering cost-effective options to buyers while ensuring reliable performance and often including warranties.

During the Imagine event, HP recently unveiled its inaugural PC restoration program at its Palo Alto headquarters. This program is the first part of a suite of services called Renew Solutions.

Grant Hoffman, Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Poly, explained that HP has categorised the Renew Solutions business into three segments: transactional, contractual, and HP-certified. India is expected to play a role in all three segments. Currently, India is actively involved in the transactional segment, where customers or companies can purchase refurbished devices or request HP to refurbish their existing devices. The contractual segment, which offers flexible payment solutions, is also a key focus in India.

The program initially offers a leasing model with six- or twelve-month options in India, with plans to expand the service to include other elements of the Renew business model. HP’s vision is to provide sustainable and cost-effective options for IT equipment, aligning with global efforts to reduce electronic waste and promote the responsible use of technology. This expansion into India underscores the country’s importance in HP’s sustainability initiatives and reflects its commitment to meeting diverse customer needs in the Indian market.
