U.S. based First Solar Inc. and New Delhi-based Green Infra Ltd have signed an agreement for the supply of First Solar’s advanced, cadmium telluride thin-film solar modules to Green Infra for a 25MW-AC PV plant in the Indian state of Rajasthan, says a press report.
The project is part of the second batch of utility-scale solar projects of India’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), which aims to install 20,000MW of new solar electricity generating capacity by 2022.
“Today, India is on the path of becoming one of the leading nations in the solar energy sector, and we are excited to be a part of this journey. Our latest project with Green Infra is a significant project under the National Solar Mission that will help India meet its energy security needs,” said Sujoy Ghosh, First Solar’s India Country Head, in a statement, to a press. “Large-scale solar photovoltaic power plants are the key to achieving economies of scale and reducing the cost of solar electricity for everyone.”
