SB Energy And Eden Win 900 Megawatts Of Solar Power Projects Tender in India

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) had floated a 2-gigawatt solar PV tender last year. Softbank-backed SB Energy has come out as the largest bidder and secured 600 megawatts of capacity. The tender conditions were flexible and allowed developers to choose the project site as per their liking.

Axis Energy Ventures, backed by Brookfield Asset Management secured 400 megawatts while O2 Power won 380 megawatts. Eden Renewables and Avaada Energy won 300 megawatts and 320 megawatts respectively. NHPC had initially set a maximum tariff bid of Rs 2.65per kilowatt-hour. It was later increased to Rs 2.95 per kilowatt-hour and finally set at Rs 2.78 per kilowatt-hour. Seven developers participated in the auction. The tariff bids fell from Rs 2.78 per kilowatt-hour to Rs 2.55 per kilowatt-hour.

Bid for submissions had been extended

NHPC had extended the deadline for bid submission for its tender for 2 GW of solar PV projects in January. The deadline for bid submissions had been extended till 10th January 2019. The techno-commercial bids were scheduled to be opened on 14th January 2019.
