  • Recently, Samsung Electronics reported KRW 66.96 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 12.35 trillion in operating profit for the third quarter ended 30 September 2020

As per a report by Reuters, Samsung Electronics’ display unit has received licenses from U.S. authorities to continue supplying certain display panel products to Huawei Technologies, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. From 15th September, new curbs had barred U.S. companies from supplying or serving Huawei. Samsung Display declined to comment. Huawei was not immediately available for comment.

The report added that it is still unclear whether Samsung Display will be able to export its OLED panels to Huawei as other firms in the supply chain making components necessary to manufacture panels would also have to get U.S. licences. The report added that LG Display said that it and other companies, including most semiconductor companies, need to get licences to resume business with Huawei. Last month, Intel Corp said it had received licences from U.S. authorities to continue supplying certain products to Huawei as per the report.

Recently, Samsung Electronics reported KRW 66.96 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 12.35 trillion in operating profit for the third quarter ended 30 September 2020. The company’s quarterly operating profit rose 52 per cent from the previous quarter. Its third-quarter operating profit was also 59 per cent higher year-on-year on stronger sales of memory chips and consumer products.
