GreenCell Mobility Welcomes New CEO

Mr Devndra Chawla will lead the e-mobility company to build a sustainable growth momentum in the shared e-mobility space

GreenCell Mobility, a leading Indian company in the domain of shared electric mobility, has appointed Mr Devndra Chawla as its new CEO. The company stated that Mr Chawla will lead GreenCell’s objective of being the prime mover in building sustainable growth momentum in the shared e-mobility space. He will report to the board of GreenCell.

Mr Chawla completed his degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Production from Pune University and received an MBA degree from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. An alumnus of the Harvard Business School via its Advanced Management Program, he has over 26 years of experience in varied domains.

Before getting into GreenCell, he worked with Spencer’s Retail and Nature’s Basket as its MD and CEO. He was also associated with Walmart India as EVP and COO and was CEO of Future Consumer Limited (FCL) and Group President of the Food, FMCG, and Brands Future Group. He also served as the CEO and Food and Business Head for private brands (the Future Group). Previously with Coca-Cola, he worked as the area operations director and director of the customer service and route to market. The company pointed out that he has also had a stint at Asian Paints as a regional branch manager.

Everstone Group VC and CEO of Eversource Capital, Dhanpal Jhaveri remarked: “We are excited to welcome Devndra to the GreenCell team, having successfully led many customer-centric businesses to grow GreenCell into India’s leading green surface transport company.”

The newly-appointed CEO commented, “I am extremely thrilled with the opportunity to lead GreenCell, which is revolutionizing the future of e-mobility in India. I feel privileged to scale the company’s growth to the next phase, which has established its base in business and is now ready to accelerate its businesses in green surface transport.”

Backed by Eversource Capital, Mumbai-based GreenCell Mobility is building a platform to provide Electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS). It claims to implement 1,500 e-buses in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. Out of these, over 700 are said to be operational across 23 cities.
