Panasonic’s Anchor Electricals Appoints Vivek Sharma as New MD

Anchor Electricals – the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese multinational electronics company, Panasonic Corporation, announced on Monday that Vivek Sharma has been appointed as the new managing director (MD) of the company to manage its electricals business. He has become the first Indian to be chosen for this role.

Sharma to drive the electrical arm of Anchor and look at its overseas businesses

Anchor Electricals’ businesses abroad include switchgear, wires, cables and tapes, conduit pipes, wiring devices, lighting, solar, housing, indoor air quality and power tools. As the MD, Sharma will look at the above-mentioned overseas businesses of the corporation and trigger their growth the countries they are active.

Manish Sharma, President and CEO, India and South-Asia-Panasonic India, the Electronics arm of Panasonic Corporation, stated that Sharma’s appointment has happened at the right moment as the Japanese company is currently undergoing migration from hardware to solutions. “His versatility and astute business knowledge will enable the company to implement the strategic roadmap for Anchor,” he added.

Sharma looks forward to consolidating & enhancing the electricals business

A 32-year-old experience across Fast Moving Consumer Durable (FMCD), consumer electronics segment and lighting, Sharma was earlier associated with Everstone Capital Partners – a private equity firm, in the department of Partner Operations with the role to look at the acquisitions in the small domestic appliances domain. Furthermore, Sharma has also held higher positions with prominent companies like Philips India Ltd. and Morphy Richards – a strategic business unit (SBU) of Bajaj Electricals Ltd, for more than 10 years, respectively.

Speaking about his appointment, Sharma said: “I am looking forward to further consolidate and strengthen the company’s electricals business and reinforce our position as undisputed industry leaders in this space. As a part of the new role, one of my key focus areas will be to enhance consumer connect for both our brands: Anchor and Panasonic, in the electrical space.”
