The eco-friendly, sleek, compact product boasts a maximum power output of 250 kW and an impressive peak axle torque of 5,000 Nm. It features a distinctive capability to rotate 90 degrees around its drive axis. This innovative product can function either as the main drive solution or as an auxiliary secondary drive, equipped with an optional eDecoupling feature.

Magna recently showcased its revolutionary 800V eDrive solution at CES 2024, marking a significant leap in eDrive technology. This next-generation solution is a game-changer in terms of efficiency, power-to-weight ratio, and torque density, setting new industry benchmarks.

The company highlights that this latest eDrive model is a comprehensive, integrated solution incorporating multiple cutting-edge technologies. These innovations have led to notable reductions in both weight and size, boosting performance, extending the driving range, and emphasizing sustainability. Notably, it stands out with its lightweight build, weighing just 75 kg, and is 20% shorter in height than Magna’s previous eDrive models, offering increased flexibility.

A groundbreaking feature of this eDrive system is its unique ability to rotate 90 degrees around the drive axis. This innovation, a first in the supplier industry, enhances system integration possibilities within the front and rear sections of a vehicle. In real-world driving conditions, including WLTC and highway scenarios, the system boasts an impressive efficiency of up to 93%. This high efficiency spans a broad spectrum of vehicle speeds, making the eDrive remarkably versatile.

Diba Ilunga, President of Powertrain at Magna, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to crafting superior driving experiences while prioritizing environmental sustainability. The next-generation eDrive epitomizes this commitment with its sustainable design and production process. By optimizing system integration, Magna has significantly reduced the use of aluminium and heavy rare earth materials. This strategic move has resulted in a notable 20% decrease in COâ‚‚ emissions during production compared to its predecessors, a testament to Magna’s dedication to sustainable innovation.

Magna’s latest eDrive is designed to be adaptable, serving either as the main drive or a supplementary secondary drive with an added eDecoupling feature. Suitable for vehicles in the C, D, and E segments, it delivers a peak power of 250 kW and a peak axle torque of 5,000 Nm, underscoring its robust performance capabilities.
