The German Tier-1 major will keep selling thermostats in spares and accessories under the Mahle and Behr brands, managing them through the global Mahle aftermarket network.

German Tier-1 giant Mahle, renowned for its expertise in powertrain, mechatronics, and electronics components, has completed the sale of its automotive thermal management – specifically its thermostat business – to Admetos, a German industrial and investment holding firm.

Following the sale, Admetos will manage the business under the new name, BTT Solutions. Mahle will, however, continue to sell thermostats in the spare parts and accessories market under its Mahle and Behr brands, distributing them through the Mahle aftermarket network. As part of the agreement, Admetos will integrate 600 Mahle employees across six countries into its operations.

Jumana Al-Sibai, a member of the Mahle Management Board and head of the thermal management business unit, expressed gratitude to all employees in the thermostat product area. She noted that Admetos provides both the company and its employees with a stable and promising future.

Mahle announced the sale of the thermostat product range to Admetos in August 2023. With its new strategy, Mahle is focusing on electrification, systems for thermal management, and achieving cost leadership in components for highly efficient, green combustion engines. Consequently, the thermostat product group no longer aligns with Mahle’s strategic focus within its OEM business segment, Al-Sibai added.
