Electronic Contract Manufacturing In India To Grow Over Six Fold To $152 Billion By 2025: ELCINA report

The electronic contract manufacturing sector in India is projected to grow by over six-fold to $152 billion by 2025 as per industry body ELCINA. Globally, the electronic manufacturing services (EMS) sector was valued at $832 billion in 2019 and is estimated to grow to $1,055 billion by 2025.

Electronic Industries Association Of India (Elcina) said in a statement that it predicts that the Indian EMS industry will gallop from $23.5 billion in 2019-20 to $152 billion by 2025. This effectively means that it has the potential to grow from less than 3 per cent of the global industry to about 14 per cent within five years.

Electronics and IT Secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney, whereas releasing the ‘EMS Task Force Report’ by ELCINA, emphasised on the necessity to manufacture printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies inside the nation and cut back import dependence.

He also said that there was an enormous alternative in merchandise equivalent to servers, laptops and tablets and inspired the trade to take up these excessive worth and enormous quantity merchandise, the assertion mentioned. ElCINA EMS Task Force Chairman Sanjiv Narayan underlined the importance of help to the sector for increasing its attain into export markets which are largely managed by China and Vietnam.

ELCINA said that China exports $685 billion of electronics to the world. India has set a goal of $100 billion exports of mobiles alone by 2025. It is possible with the help of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.

The assertion mentioned that this would mean that India would serve 25 per cent of the global mobile market which was estimated to be valued at $415 billion in 2025. It included that comparable help for non-mobile EMS exports would allow India to make a mark in the world market.It is estimated that there are virtually 700 EMS gamers in India, together with 100 world corporations and 600 home.

EMS is the important thing hyperlink

It said that EMS is the important thing hyperlink between elements and completed gear. All main OEM’s are eager to develop different sources to forestall uncertainty and provide chain disruptions.

Elcina Secretary General Rajoo Goel mentioned that Covid has taught us not to depend on a single source. India is well placed to service this market which has grown exponentially with the enhanced role of EMS in electronics manufacturing.
