EFY Awards aims to recognise brands, organisations and individuals who are leaders in their respective segments within the Indian electronics industry. The awards were presented across 26 product categories to brands voted by the readers of Electronics For You and Electronics Bazaar magazines. The awards also consisted of six special categories, selected by a jury of four members.

M N Vidyashankar, principal secretary to the government, Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Karnataka, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Welcoming the guests, Ramesh Chopra, vice chairman of EFY Group said, “EFY Awards is an attempt to give recognition to the leading enterprises and individuals in the Indian electronics industry. Being the leading publication (EFY) in the electronics industry, we have taken the initiative to identify leading companies and individuals in the industry, with the inputs of the electronics fraternity.”

Addressing the audience, N Ramachandran, managing director, MEL Systems and Services Ltd, who won the EFY Jury Award for Lifetime Achievement said, “It is a humble feeling to be recognised for an award like this, especially at a time when I would be relinquishing my responsibilities for the younger generation. It feels nice that the industry and especially, EFY has recognised my work. I have had the time of my life working in the electronics industry. Seeing the world move from the days of the valves to the present day micro-electronics, it has been a journey of which I’ve enjoyed every moment.”

Rajan Shringarpure, managing director, and director, operations, Vishay Components, winner of three awards in the categories – resistors, capacitors, diodes & Transistors said, “We would have been happy with one, satisfied with two, but with the three, of course, we are delighted. To be voted the best in India in the three major products of our portfolio, by the industry people, is a feeling which is very fulfilling. We set standards based on these awards, hence we have to strive harder every year so that we win this award again next year.”

Mohan Das, general manager, Bosch, a first time winner in the category CCTV cameras said, “We feel privileged and it’s the confidence that is shown by customers in the Bosch brand. We would take this as a challenge and continue this effort in the coming years to maintain the quality. Getting the award from EFY is something really significant and a great honour because EFY is well-known among the electronic readers.”
