The company believes that this pre-seed round funding will help it to launch the next-gen batteries to the market

In a round led by deep-tech venture capital firm Speciale Invest, a 2021-born battery tech start-up, e-TRNL Energy secured pre-seed funding of Rs 7.5 Crores. Micelio Mobility, a clean mobility fund, and CIIE, the innovation continuum built at IIM Ahmedabad also participated in the fund round. Using the newly-raised money, the start-up plans to build safe and efficient batteries, while accelerating the product cycle and reducing the timelines to deliver the products to its customers. Notably, e-TRNL Energy has developed a patented manufacturing technology that claims to offer safe and dense energy batteries, with fast charging.

Apoorv Shaligram, co-founder of the start-up said: “Any true electric vehicle revolution cannot revolve around import dependence in the most critical component of EVs, which is the battery. At e-TRNL Energy, we are innovating technology from the ground up to realize the true potential of batteries and bring about the most advanced cell manufacturing. We are excited to have partnered with our investors to realize the future of batteries and help set up the global supply chains from India.”

Another co-founder, Dr Uttam Kumar Sen remarked, “We have developed a technology platform that solves the fundamental challenges of fast charging without compromising the energy density, life cycle and safety. Our innovation is chemistry and application agnostic, which means it could be deployed across all battery applications.”

Vishesh Rajaram, Managing Partner at Speciale Invest said, “We at Speciale Invest believe that climate and sustainability are increasingly becoming business drivers in India as well as globally. We are focused on partnering with like-minded businesses and founders using technology to disrupt this sector. We are excited to be a part of e-TRNL journey and look forward to seeing them succeed.”

e-TRNL Energy is an Indian start-up founded by experienced IITians. e-TRNL Energy aims to innovate core technologies to unlock the true potential of energy sources. e-TRNL Energy also claims to be working on India’s first ground-up developed battery cell design and manufacturing technology platform for advanced battery chemistries.
