Construction is due to begin on six solar PV plants in the Indian state of Telangana by Germany’s Belectric, which will provide turnkey solutions totaling 104 MW of solar power in the state of Telengana.

Belectric, the German EPC, has signed a contract to develop 104 MW of solar PV capacity in the Indian state of Telangana.

Construction on the six solar sub-plants will begin in September, with Belectric set to provide turnkey systems, transmission line construction and bay extension at the utility end. The exact location of the project has not yet been revealed.

It is expected that each of the six individual solar plants will be commissioned in the first quarter of next year, generating a total of 160,000,000 kWh of electricity annually combined.

Although each plant will be built and connected separately, the project will essentially be a singular operation, delivering around 80,000 tons of CO2 savings a year and generating hundreds of local jobs.

A consortium comprising U.S.-based financing firm Think Energy Partners will own the solar plant once completed.

Belectric India MD Yogesh Dabhade is of the opinion that this solar PV project marks an important step to provide eco- and grid-friendly electricity to the Telengana region.

The southern Indian state of Telangana currently has approximately 800 MW of solar PV capacity installed, with a healthy pipeline of more than 2.2 GW – one of the largest in India.
