Scope of work

The scope of work for the 8 MW grid-connected solar PV project includes survey of the site, shadow analysis, complete design for optimal space use, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, storage, installation, commissioning, testing, insurance and civil work.

The equipment and installations items for the project will be guaranteed to be free from any defect related to material or workmanship for a two-year period from handing over of the project.

As per the tender floated by AAI, PV modules have to be warranted for output peak watt capacity that should not be below 90 per cent at the end of 10-year period and not less than 80 per cent after 25 years, from the date of successfully completing the trial run of the project.

The successful engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor will also offer maintenance and operation services for a period of five years after handing over the project to AAI.

The AAI, a Miniratna category company comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is responsible for the management, upgradation and creation of civil aviation infrastructure in the country.

Becoming carbon neutral

The latest tender by AAI shows its commitment towards the goal of becoming carbon neutral. The PSU is seeking to utilise solar power as a cost-effective and renewable source to fuel operations at several airports all over the country.

Lately, the PSU had issued an EPC tender for 1.2 MW grid-connected solar PV project at Lal Bahadur Shastri International (LBSI) Airport at Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier this month, AAI has also issued another tender for 1 MW solar PV project at Begumpet Airport, in Hyderabad.
