Log 9 Materials Unveils CoronaOven to Disinfect Surfaces

Log 9 has developed a proprietary device for completely neutralizing COVID-19 and other pathogens on surfaces of various products in demand during this outbreak. This includes, masks, hospital PPE & tools, groceries, etc.

“This can kill the virus in less than 10 minutes on all types of surfaces. System is specifically designed to ensure complete kill of Coronaviruses. With support from the government we are already living on the GEMS gov. procurement portal and can start deliveries soon. It will also be available for general public for use by delivery personnel and in homes soon,” read Log 9’s official statement.

The company is retailing this in two options. The plug-in model is priced at Rs 7,999, while the battery compatible model is priced at Rs 13,999.

Can be used to disinfect medical protective gear and other things

The nanotechnology startup informed that the CoronaOven uses UV-C light and is based upon the scientific principle of Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation. It is to be noted here that many countries around the world, including India, are facing shortage of essential electronic and non-electronic equipment to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

This device, by eradicating coronavirus and other pathogens, might help in resuing equipment including masks, gloves and adequate protective gears used by medical professionals and authorities. People might also find a use of these at shops and inside their houses.

“In India and the world’s ongoing battle against Corona virus, doctors, paramedics, and other front line healthcare workers are working tirelessly. The importance of proper and adequate protective gear (PPEs) for these medical personnel/caregivers cannot be stressed enough. However, instances of limited or inadequate supply of masks and PPEs for healthcare workers have been reported off late from various parts of the world, and with more countries entering stage three and stage four of the transmission, the problem of a widening demand-supply gap is expected to become more prominent and troublesome in the upcoming days and months,” read Log 9’s official statement.

It continued, “In view of the strained resources, reuse/recycling of masks and other significant protective equipment has emerged as the need of the hour. However, a section of health experts have voiced concerns that the reuse or multiple times usage of N95 and surgical masks (most of which are meant for single-use and are disposable), when not done properly and scientifically, could reduce their effectiveness and even increase chances of the caregivers catching various infections.”
