Talking points to lead the way forward
Kunkolienker further informed that in his discussion with Prasad, he has highlighted the need for creation of a component manufacturing hub in India which needs to be promoted aggressively by incentivisation by the Government. Talking about PCs, Nitin said that we should take immediate steps to build an ecosystem allowing us to benefit from the large under-utilized manufacturing capacity to encourage domestic manufacturing.

During the meeting, MAIT had put forth several recommendations in-line with the industry’s expectations that aim to help the industry develop an export-led manufacturing ecosystem and gain global importance for the same. The recommendations included offering production linked export incentive, leveraging India’s geo-political influence and FTA influence with countries to accept BIS & TEC standards as sufficient to access their markets. Another important recommendation was identification of sub-sectors where India should lead the development of standards like 5G, medical electronics, cyber security and data com.
