The combination of the startup’s drones and robotics and XTEND’s XOS operating system aim to make remote interactive operations possible even in GPS-denied, confined spaces

Israeli drone software company XTEND recently announced the acquisition of a Singapore drone startup Performance Rotors. Not revealing the financial terms of the deal, the company said that the move will boost its ability to offer human-guided, remote interactive operations in a range of inspection scenarios, and grow its global business.

The parties believe that the combination of the startup’s drones and robotics and XTEND’s XOS operating system will make remote interactive operations possible even in GPS-denied, unsafe, or confined spaces.

Keith Ng, the co-founder and CEO of the drone startup said, “(Our) mission has always been to develop drones and robotics solutions for data acquisition in GPS-denied and confined space environments, without the risk to human lives.”

XTEND noted that Performance Rotors was founded in 2016, and secured funding from the Singapore Economic Development Board’s corporate venture-building arm, EDB New Ventures, in 2021. It also raised funds from a Dutch multinational company Royal Vopak in 2020.

Co-founder and CEO of XTEND, Aviv Shapira remarked, “Every day, people risk their lives to make our world safer. Inspection is just one area, among many, where machines, robots and drones can be used to accomplish what people can’t, in a more economical, efficient and safer manner.”

Singapore-based drone startup Performance Rotors develops small, smart aerial drone solutions for deployment in challenging confined space environments. It aims to harness the power of custom-designed drones, AI and data analytics to streamline operations, reduce costs, and eliminate hazards in heavy industries.

XTEND claims to provide revolutionary human-guided autonomous machine systems that enable any operator to perform extremely accurate manoeuvres and actions, in any environment with minimal training.
