India has launched several schemes for the promotion of electronics manufacturing under its ‘Make in India’ strategy: Exatron

At the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s recent event named ‘ICT Ecosystem & Make in India Forum 2023’, Exatron announced its plans to launch laptops and to enter into the domain of networking products manufacturing. Noting that the Indian government has launched several schemes for the promotion of electronics manufacturing under its ‘Make in India’ strategy, the company believes that with an investment commitment of $30 billion, India aspires to become a global hub for electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM).

The founder of Exatron, Kalyan Muppaneni remarked: “In the current times there is a strategic importance in reducing India’s dependence on foreign computer hardware. India needs to foster its own homegrown ICT companies. We are proud that Exatron is India’s first greenfield Server Manufacturing Company, and is listed under the GOI MSIPS scheme. Exatron today supplies servers, desktops, and storage units among many other ICT products supporting mission-critical operations of many GOI organisations and enterprises across India. Kudos to the Indian Chamber of Commerce for organising this event of strategic importance to India. Exatron is happy to contribute to India’s organic growth story.”

The official release pointed out that the human-computer interaction (HCI) offering from Exatron is a built-in technology partnership with Nutanix. Exatron has storage servers certified by Quantum. The GPU servers from Exatron are certified by Nvidia. Exatron has a good set of storage solutions in the product category list. This includes NAS (network-attached storage), SAN (Storage Area Network) and Unified Storage. Exatron has a technology tie-up with Seagate in building some of these products.

In the personal computing range, Exatron boasts of offering a wide range of desktops, both in Intel and AMD platforms. These products are available in education as well as the enterprise series. Moreover, it has also launched a series of gaming desktops and workstations built on the AMD platform. In continuation to this, Exatron has launched a made-in-India HCI solution as well as a unified storage solution.

Exatron CEO, Tom Sebastian stated, “Very theme of Exatron is to sensibly build a local manufacturing set-up for IT hardware in India. The steps we are taking for this vision are logical, measured, and scalable. We have offerings in both class 1 local content and class 2 local content. While we build and sustain the business with both these classes now, our efforts are to have all our products contain maximum local content and become true warriors for our government’s vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat. To achieve this, we work with many committed domestic component manufacturers and promising technology start-up initiatives in the Indian ICT ecosystem.”

Dheeraj Puri, Co-Chair of the North Region Committee (ICC) commented, “The revolution in the information and communication sector is making the world united. In today’s world information and communication technology (ICT) is a key parameter for a country’s socioeconomic development, especially for a developing country like us. India is contributing 13% to the country’s GDP. With the concept of globalization, the cross-country transfer of technology with respect to equipment and even manpower has nowadays become much easier. ICT adoption, digitalization and automation provide formidable new opportunities in terms of increased efficiency and productivity, the creation of new services and occupations and increased connectivity across the nation. Market reports show that countries have started to invest in ICT because the sector can have a substantial positive impact on social and economic sustainability since such investment will lead to annual GDP growth of 0.6% to 0.7% on average, on an annual basis, for each increase of 10% in household penetration.”

Senior leaders and management members of various government establishments participated in the event, along with representatives of leading technology manufacturers, solution providers, and system integrators of the Indian ICT market. The company opines that it is high time for the stakeholders of the Indian ICT industry to put their efforts into enabling and empowering the true domestic manufacturers, considering the major focus of our country’s leadership for achieving digitalization in all aspects of life.

Exatron, a green field manufacturing project for ICT products has a state-of-the-art factory in Bangalore to manufacture servers, storage systems, workstations, desktops and all-in-one personal computers. Exatron claims to have VMware & Azure certified virtualization servers (offerings available in both Intel and AMD platforms) for data centres and other enterprise applications.
