In December 2012, STMicroelectronics introduced accurate, low-power components that enable improved energy efficiency and faster operation of equipment such as gas sensors, medical devices, safety systems and industrial controls.

Features: TS881 is compatible with supply voltages as low as 1.1V over a wide temperature range, enabling longer operating times with smaller batteries. Suitable for use in front-end detection and measurement circuitry, TS881 is also said to be faster than competing devices, allowing a reduction in equipment response times.

TS881 is said to draw less than half the current of competing devices. Moreover, the push-pull output circuitry reduces power consumption to the absolute minimum when driving any capacitive or resistive load.

Features: As part of Maxim’s DeepCover security products, the chipset comprises a DS2465 secure coprocessor with integrated 1-wire master and DS28E15/DS28E22/DS28E25 1-wire secure authenticators. This secure chipset protects a revenue stream by ensuring that only licensed peripherals are used with OEM equipment. The DS2465 coprocessor when used with any of the 1-wire secure authenticators, identifies unlicensed after-market peripherals that are not approved for a system.

In December 2012, ON Semiconductor introduced NSIC20XX series of linear constant current regulators (CCR) designed for use in solid state lighting systems.

Features: NSIC20XX series of offers a maximum voltage rating of
120 V and 3 W, and is capable of withstanding high peak voltages of AC offline HBLED lighting applications, including digital signage systems, lighting panels and decorative illumination. These new CCRs protect against the sudden surges. Based on self-biased transistor (SBT) technology, NSIC20XX series of devices are capable of current regulation over a very wide voltage range, while their negative temperature coefficient helps to protect the LEDs from thermal runaway at extreme voltage and current levels.

28nm heterogeneous processors

In December 2012, Broadcom launched NLA12000 series, which the company claims is the industry’s first heterogeneous knowledge-based processors (KBPs) manufactured in the 28nm process.

Features: These processors are said to deliver up to 24 times greater performance than competing solutions in the most demanding applications. They are optimised for deployment in routers, switches, service gateways, security appliances and mobile infrastructure equipment. The processors are said to be the industry’s first to integrate an eighth-generation massively parallel knowledge-based processing technology with low power NetRoute algorithmic search technology in a heterogeneous manner.

Launched in 2012, Vispra launched a low cost high efficiency DSP-based pure sine wave solar hybrid UPS/PCU system in the 800 VA to 3 kVA range.

Features: The solar UPS system is incorporated with an auto solar sense circuit, therefore it works as a normal home UPS system until connected with solar PV panels. Once it senses the presence of the solar connection, it works as a solar UPS system with a preference for solar power over the grid and battery. Features and USP: The SMT assembly line features the four-head MC-388 pick-and-place machine. Its huge feeder capacity—192 when used with its 3-stage conveyor and 256 when set up as a batch machine—brings job changeover time to nearly zero. With a ball screw drive, linear encoders, and full vision alignment, the MC-388 is able to place components down to 0201s with an accuracy of 30 µm, 3 sigma at rates reaching 10,500 cph. Uniquely, the machine can assemble boards and panels up to 1.2 m long in a single pass.

Offering accuracy and repeatability on every print, the MC1400 fully automatic stencil printer features dual squeegees, dual stroke control and automatic PCB offset alignment. Once printed, boards are delivered to the MC-388 for component placement via a CT-90 inline conveyor, eliminating the risk of solder paste being disturbed by operator handling.

GL-FL60 floodlight can accept a wide range of AC voltages—from 100 to 277 volts—it is suitable for a variety of operating environments. Its ability to operate in a wide range of temperatures (-20°C ~ +40°C) and the IP66 certificated water resistant design means this flood light can be used in nearly all weather conditions.
