EB: What are the LED products you offer?

D Sl Lghting Technology, a division of DS Electronics, offers complete LED lighting solutions—from LED components to finished products, which are ready to use, plug and play—at the most competitive prices. We are the distributors for high power LEDs ranging from 0.2 W to 200 W, manufactured by ProLight Opto Technology Corporation of Taiwan, which is a reputed company in this field.

We try to bring to the Indian market products with new technologies—that is the fundamental need for the growing and changing market. We specialise in chip on board (COB), mid-power and high power LEDs. We also distribute LED power supplies (both water proof and non-water proof variants) from Powerlink Signage. We are registered as Uranus LED Light brand, which has a wide range of LED products like flexible strips, downlights, spotlights, bulbs, tubes, SMD LEDs, piranha LEDs, LED signage modules, drivers, panel lights, etc. We mainly import LEDs and LED products from Taiwan, China and Korea.

EB: In which sectors are your products more popular?

Our products are highly popular among the original equipment manufacturers (OEM), which require high quality LEDs at extremely reasonable prices. Apart from the finished goods, the brand Uranus, which we distribute, is extremely popular among the consumers due to its reliability.

EB: From which region or cities do you get more demand for your LED products?

At present, demand for our products comes from north-western India and south India.

EB: In what way are your LED products technologically advanced?

Technology is changing rapidly in the LED segment. High power LEDs are getting smaller in size and are now available at a minimum luminous efficacy of 130 lumens per watt. Our products offer the latest technologies. This year we will offer LEDs with the new technology—DOB (driver on board) modules.

EB: What are the challenges you face while doing business in LED products in India?

The main challenge today is the tough competition from cheap Chinese products. Customers tend to get confused if similar kinds of products are available in the market with such wide price differences. However, we aim to bring high quality LED products at a low cost within the shortest delivery time.

EB: Do any of the government policies help in boosting LED product manufacturing in India?

Frankly speaking, they do not. Though the government is taking an initiative in this direction, its efforts are still at the nascent stage so we are not getting the amount of help that we actually need.

EB: What will your marketing strategies be this year?

This year, we have very specific plans to market LED products. I would say the game is the same but the rules have changed. We often participate in exhibitions and seminars. Apart from that, we circulate e-catalogues revealing details about our latest products.

EB: What are your growth plans for this year?

This year we are expecting to do well in terms of revenue. If all goes well, we are forecasting a 20 per cent growth in 2014-15.

EB: Are you looking for partners, such as distributors, systems integrators, etc?

Yes, we always welcome good partners to collaborate with. They are our core strength.
