Tata’s Act For Biodiversity Conclave Brings Green Hope

The conclave witnessed the presence of Mr Jamshyd Godrej, Ms Anjali Bansal, Mr Ricky Kej and Mr Kavinder Singh among others

Tata Power, India’s leading power company recently concluded its first ever ‘Act for Biodiversity’ conclave, which brought together impact leaders from the corporate and conservation world. It consisted of discussions on preserving the balance of life and harmonious co-existence of humans and nature on the planet.

Diverse topics like ‘Business and Biodiversity’, ‘Ecosystem restoration’, and ‘The use of technology for conservation’ were discussed in detail at the conclave. The company came up with a three-pronged conservation approach for grassland ecosystem management: clean energy generation, maintaining the ecological balance and sustainable livelihood. As per the official statement, it is based on the first-of-its-kind study commissioned by Tata Power in collaboration with the Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (BVIEER), Pune.

The CEO & MD of Tata Power, Dr Praveer Sinha said at the event: “Tata Power is proud to host the first ever ‘Act for Biodiversity Conclave’, to create awareness on biodiversity conservation, and promote responsible actions to achieve a sustainable future. Environment stewardship has always been at the heart of our operations, and at Tata Power, we look forward to collaborating with change-makers and like-minded corporates who are committed to make a positive impact on the environment of our planet earth. I am confident that this unique grassland conservation study, will be a major milestone in ensuring sustainable ecosystems around the rapidly growing renewable energy sites, in the wake of India’s ambitious 500 GW renewable energy goal by 2030.”

Many public figures were present at the conclave, including Grammy award winner and environmentalist Dr Ricky Kej, Mr Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary, Dept of Energy, Govt. of Odisha, Mr Jamshyd N. Godrej, MD & Chairperson, Godrej & Boyce, Ms Anjali Bansal, Independent Board Director, Tata Power and Founder and Chairperson of Avaana Group, Mr Kavinder Singh, MD & CEO, Mahindra Holidays and current Chairman of India Business & Biodiversity Initiative (IBBI); Mr Manish Dabkara – International Carbon Markets Leader, CMD & CEO at EKIESL; Dr Arpit Deomurari, Lead Product, Sustain Technologies, Birder, Conservation Specialist, and Spatial Ecologist.

It is noteworthy that Tata Power recently launched a corporate movement called ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ which focused on energy conservation and wide-scale clean energy adoption.
