Nuvoton Partners With Segger To Enhance GUI Capabilities For ARM-Based MCUs

• Nuvoton Technology will use Segger Microcontroller’s emWin software to enhance its human-machine interface solutions.
• Nuvoton will also use AppWizard to create high-quality embedded system GUIs without requiring in-depth coding knowledge of the emWin graphics library or C language.

Taiwanese chipmaker Nuvoton Technology has partnered with Germany-based Segger Microcontroller to utilise the latter’s emWin graphics user interface (GUI) software and AppWizard, across all its ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and ARM9 and Cortex-A embedded microprocessors.

The companies intend to strengthen their hold over the connectivity and communication markets with a solid emphasis on IoT and security. Nuvoton will use Segger’s emWin software to enhance its human-machine interface solutions, such as touch controller ICs, panels, and LCD drivers.

“The emWin software helps designers complete a professional interface, usually within a day or two, and to generate the corresponding C source code when finished,” stated Nuvoton. The company spun off from Winbond Electronics as a wholly owned subsidiary.

The emWin software is a high-performance GUI optimised for minimum memory consumption in RAM and ROM and high speed and versatility. It can be adapted to any size display, physical or virtual. 

AppWizard makes it simple to create ready-to-run graphical applications, enabling the creation of high-quality embedded system GUIs without requiring in-depth knowledge of the emWin graphics library or even the C language for coding.
