Lhyfe’s New Green Hydrogen Production Facility In Brittany

  • Lhyfe will introduce its first hydrogen-powered services in the first quarter of 2024
  • Lhyfe Bretagne will contribute to the establishment of two HyGO filling stations in the Lorient urban area

Lhyfe has recently unveiled its new green hydrogen production facility in France. The facility, Lhyfe Bretagne, is situated in Buléon. It will produce up to two temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) of green and renewable hydrogen, equivalent to 575 tons per year (with an installed electrolysis capacity of 5 MW).

Lhyfe Bretagne plays a crucial role in supplying hydrogen primarily for local transportation and industrial processes in the Brittany region. Located in Lorient Agglomération, it marks a significant milestone as the first urban community in Brittany to benefit from the produced hydrogen. This facility is a vital component of the VHyGO (Great West Hydrogen Valley) project, which is supported by ADEME and aims to promote green hydrogen initiatives.

Covering an area of approximately 6,800 square meters, Lhyfe Bretagne consists of containerized structures designed for various functions, including driver reception, a control room, electrical conversion, water electrolysis, compression, and quality control. Additionally, the site features designated zones for truck circulation and loading bays for hydrogen transportation to filling stations and various customers.

After completing two years of its initial site in Pays de la Loire and a week of introducing Lhyfe Occitanie, Lhyfe has launched its Brittany production unit.

This inauguration marks the commencement of Brittany’s hydrogen fuel chain, with Lorient Agglomération scheduled to introduce its first hydrogen-powered services in the first quarter of 2024.

Matthieu Guesné, Founder and CEO of Lhyfe, said, “We are very proud to be working with our public and private partners to help build a new industry for the future in Brittany and to offer local stakeholders a viable alternative to fossil fuels from 2024.” This development signifies a significant stride towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future, aligning with the global transition towards cleaner energy solutions.
