Jakson Group has recently commissioned a 50 MW solar power plant in the Kheragarh district of Agra city in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). In February 2019, the company had signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (UPPTCL) at a fixed tariff rate.

It said in a statement that despite the pandemic, the solar plant was completed within the planned timelines and would supply power to the state government. The plant, which is located in an area of 200-acres of land, is expected to supply 1,05,100 MWh/year of electricity to the grid annually. The company said that the plant was built with an investment of Rs 250 crore and using best in class monoPERC modules and string inverters.

Atul Gupta, Head Solar IPP at Jakson Group, said “as one of India’s leading solar power developers, Jakson is proud to set up another milestone solar power plant in the state of Uttar Pradesh. We look forward to work with UPPTCL and help India meet its target of 100GW by 2022. He added that with this plant, Jakson Group will be offsetting 85,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually which is equivalent to planting 550,000 trees. In order to save up to 80 per cent water, Jakson has adopted a dry cleaning module method using robots instead of wet cleaning.

Presently,Jakson Group is also developing Assam’s first large scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plant of 70MW in Anguri Solar Park, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year. As of now, the company’s total portfolio stood at more than 200 MW including these projects and is expected to grow to 1GW by 2024.
