Tuesday, November 04, 2014: The largest association of technical professionals in the world, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is putting efforts to bring in major IT companies like TCS and Wipro to share their feedback and provide inputs to develop international technology standards.
IEEE is comprised by over 400,000 members from across the globe. In a conversation with The Economic Times, IEEE president and CEO J Roberto de Marca said they are moving beyond the U.S. domain towards developing economies in the IT industry like India, China and Brazil. He said as India has huge skill sets in the engineering field, the country can play a massive role to develop the future of technology.
IEEE’s second largest member is India. Roberto also added that he wants technology companies in India should develop a new technology standard on their own. Talks are on with TCS, Wipro, CDAC and KeySight Technologies for participation in the initiative. IEEE focuses on advanced technologies like Internet of Things and cloud computing, to name a few. The institute also works in collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards, India Smart Grid Forum, CDAC and several other smaller industry forums.
