Indian tech services company CSM Tech is collaborating with IIT Madras to develop the world’s fastest autonomous electric racecar by 2025. This joint venture specifically supports Raftar, a spirited motorsports team entirely managed by IIT Madras students.

Raftar comprises more than 40 dedicated students from various disciplines of IIT Madras, unified by their passion for automotive engineering and motorsports. CSM Tech believes that year after year, Raftar takes on the daunting task of building a Formula Student racecar, striving to establish itself as India’s premier and most synchronized engineering team.

To solidify this partnership, a memorandum of understanding was signed between CSM Tech’s CEO Priyadarshi Nanu Pany, Lagna Panda, the Chief HR Officer and IIT Madras’s Manu Santhanam, the Dean of Industry Contribution and Sponsored Research.

Priyadarshi Nanu Pany, with evident enthusiasm, shared his optimistic view of Raftar’s potential. According to Pany, their efforts can lead to ground-breaking advancements, not only in passenger vehicles but also in heavy vehicles, telemetry, vehicle tracking, and beyond.

In recognition of the students’ efforts, Manu Santhanam credited them for their unwavering spirit and tenacity in spearheading such an intricate project. He admired their resilience in surmounting immense challenges, never once showing the inclination to capitulate.

The Raftar team’s journey commenced in 2008 as a student-driven initiative to build fast combustion-driven sports cars. Raftar has previously won The Formula Bharat thrice, making them the leader nationally. They have displayed their potential on international grounds as well.

CSM tech provides IT solutions, including platforms, services, infrastructure, consulting, and communications in more than 14 countries.
