BYD has become the first in the world to produce seven million new energy vehicles (NEVs), with the most recent million being manufactured in just four months.

Just four months after producing its six-millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) at the Zhengzhou factory on November 26, BYD, a Chinese automaker, achieved a significant milestone by rolling out its seven-millionth NEV on March 25. The landmark vehicle, a Denza N7, makes BYD the first automaker globally to manufacture seven million NEVs. The company reached its first million NEVs in May 2021 and rapidly tripled this figure within 18 months. It hit the five-million mark in just nine months and then reached seven million in a mere seven months, demonstrating a strong supply chain and the benefits of scale.

BYD’s growth has been remarkable, with cumulative annual NEV sales soaring to 3.02 million units in CY2023, establishing it as the global leader in NEV sales. Its diverse portfolio of models consistently leads sales rankings in their respective categories. In CY2023, BYD significantly expanded its global presence, with overseas new energy passenger car sales exceeding 240,000 units, a 337% year-on-year increase, making it the top NEV exporter in 2023.

BYD’s new energy passenger vehicles are now available in 64 countries and regions worldwide, with strategic investments in manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. In 2023, BYD became the official partner of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024, showcasing its new energy vehicles on the global stage.

In India, BYD retails three all-electric passenger vehicles: the recently launched Seal sedan, the Atto 3 SUV, and the e6 MPV. The company’s passenger vehicle division in India boasts a network of 24 showrooms across 21 cities. BYD India operates two factories, covering more than 140,000 square meters, with an investment exceeding $200 million. Its business in India encompasses electric passenger cars, battery energy storage, electric buses, electric trucks, electric forklifts, and electronics.
