In the latest developments in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) space, Bengaluru-based Altigreen, a leading commercial EV maker, recently inaugurated its retail experience centre in the capital city of Gujarat. Within the last two months, the company has opened a total of seven retail dealerships in different parts of India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Altigreen partnered with Garnet Motors (Green) Pvt. Ltd. for its latest retail experience centre, which is located in Sarkhej, Ahmedabad. As per the company, the experience centre will allow EV enthusiasts to access Altigreen’s range of electric cargo vehicles. The company stated that it is constantly ramping up its capabilities through innovation and has aggressive expansion plans to widen its pan-India presence and cater to the rising demand.

It is noteworthy that the company had recently announced a partnership to launch the “fastest-charged” 3-wheeler while offering over 100 chargers in Bengaluru.

“With the launch of this new retail experience centre in Ahmedabad, we are steadily building a strong nationwide network to cater to the rising demand for commercial EVs in the country. As a homegrown company, we take great pride in delivering Made in India products. We are investing significantly to strengthen our production and R&D capabilities while developing a robust pan-India distribution network to offer the best and cleanest last-mile transportation,” said Dr Amitabh Saran, Founder and CEO of Altigreen, while adding that they’re happy to partner with Garnet Motors (Green).

The founder of Garnet Motors (Green) Pvt. Ltd, Mr Karnail Singh Cheema was present during the inauguration. He commented: “In India, the transport sector accounts for one of the largest proportions of carbon emissions, which many experts believe is accelerating climate change. As we make progress in decarbonising transportation, collectively as a nation, companies such as Altigreen play an important role in this process. Consumers can make a huge contribution to reducing their carbon footprint by transitioning to electric fleet vehicles. We are extremely pleased to have this new retail experience centre in Ahmedabad and we hope that more consumers see the value in making the switch to EV.”

The press release noted that the Gujarat government’s policy for EV charging infrastructure provides a 25% capital subsidy on equipment/machinery (limited up to Rs. 10 lakhs per station) for the first 250 commercial public EV charging stations for 2, 3, and 4-wheelers. The State Government promises to exempt 100% electricity duty of EV charging stations till 2025.

2013-born Altigreen designs, engineers and produces EVs for the last-mile transportation segment. Altigreen’s website says its Made in India / Made for India products are specifically designed for the Indian environment, road conditions and driving behaviours. It majorly serves the 3W EVs segment, competing in performance with Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles.
