The Smart Registration is a definite move towards India’s solemn vision to be digital and advanced.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched Smart Registration at an event held in New Delhi, recently.
Under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) for more than 50 products, BIS has been continuously redesigning and improving operations to ensure efficiency and credibility of schemes for the benefit of consumers. This year, the BIS CRS scheme has taken a giant step to become smarter by adopting technology and revamping its process that will be entirely system driven.
Lauding the efforts of BIS, Sawhney said that India is one of the largest consumers of digital technology and keeping this in mind, the new CRS will go a long way to fast-track implementation and drive faster turn-around times.
He added that the new registration process will help promote manufacturing ecosystem in the country. Sawhney assured that the National Policy on Electronics in 2012 (NPE 2012), provided a road map for the development of the electronics sector in the country and envisages to create a globally competitive Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry to meet the country’s needs and to serve the international market.
Standards – The real necessity
The director general of BIS, Surina Rajan said that Standards work as a backbone for the well-being of society at large, protecting the interests of the consumer. Rajan opined that the Smart Registration is a definite move towards India’s solemn vision to be digital and advanced.
The CRS Android App is a tool for scheme credibility and transparency for consumers, which is enabled to verify the registration number of the product. In tune with the technologically driven era, BIS is in the process to expand the usage of technology and machine learning for all its certifications and processes.
