Andhra Pradesh to soon become Electronics Manufacturing Hub

Indian Information and Technology Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad has stated that  Andhra Pradesh is going to be developed as a prime electronics hub. He also made an announcement regarding many steps planned towards this initiative.

He further said that “Andhra Pradesh would become a major electronics manufacturing hub, as four electronics clusters have already been sanctioned for the state, and the fifth one is in process.”  He said this after he laid the foundation stone for the (Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) in Visakhapatnam.

He also said that SAMEER which is a Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects, is an autonomous R&D institution running under the Department of Electronics and Information and Technology ( DEITY), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT). It ranks as one of the most advanced institutions of the Indian Government.

The institution’s permanent building will be built in an area of 15 acres in Gambhiram village in Anandapuram mandal of Andhra Pradesh. Mr Prasad also made an announcement with respect to several projects for the state. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) will be set up in the state apart from a separate BSNL telephone exchange for the under-construction state capital Amaravati in Guntur district. Seeing the surge in e-commerce in India, post offices are also being digitalised.

Mr Prasad also made an announcement regarding the setting up of an e-commerce centre in Guntur district separate from the e-commerce parcel hubs based at Visakhapatnam, Vijaywada and Tirupati.

Apart from these, he stated that mobile phone production units are already there at Sri City in the state with several electronic item production to follow suit. The optic fiber network will be connecting two lakh panchayats in India.

He asserted that the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi wants to develop India and a host of institutions including World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund have talked about India’s suitability with regard to attracting investments in the present situation.
