V-Guard Industries Ltd (VGIL)

VGIL plans to double its capacity at its wiring and cable factory in Kashipur, Uttaranchal, from 0.275 million coils to 0.55 million coils a month. The company has set aside a CAPEX of Rs 250 million for FY 2013, of which Rs 150 million will be invested in ramping up the capacity at the Kashipur plant.

Maharishi Solar Technology

Products manufactured:
Multi-crystalline wafers, solar PV modules with multi-crystalline cells, solar water heaters, etc

Maharishi Solar has set up a state of the art plant in Noida to manufacture parabolic troughs. Almost 91 per cent of the parts for this parabolic trough will now be manufactured in this plant.

Anu Solar Power

Anu Solar Power has formed a joint venture with the German company, SEI AG, to manufacture products that are similar to diesel power generators, for which the company will invest Rs 600 million to set up the plant. The factory will also have a solar panel manufacturing line and a unit to make LED lamps to go with the power generators.

Philips Electronics (a subsidiary of Royal Philips Electronics, Netherlands)

Philips Electronics has opened its first medical imaging systems factory in India. Located 92 miles east of Mumbai in Chakan, the Philips development and manufacturing centre will manufacture X-ray systems and Allura FC.

M&B Switchgears Ltd

M&B Switchgears plans to set up a 20 MW solar photovoltaic power plant near Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The company plans to invest about Rs 2500 million in the project with a 70:30 debt equity ratio and will achieve financial closure within two months.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL)

BHEL is planning to set up a photovoltaic cells and solar panels plant in Sakoli, for which it plans to acquire 500 acres of land. In the first phase, BHEL will set up a fabrication unit at an estimated investment of Rs 10,000 million. Right now the work is being done at the Trichy unit of BHEL. Later, to increase the capacities, part of the fabrication work will be shifted to the Sakoli plant.

Welspun Group

Welspun Group has won a 125 MW Solar PV project in Madhya Pradesh. The company plans to add about 250 MW from new and renewable energy projects during the current fiscal year. The project will cost about Rs 12,854 million (US$ 225) and will be set up in the Mandsaur and Neemuch districts of Madhya Pradesh. The project will be completed in 18 months and funded by a 75:25 debt equity ratio.
