Baumer India Pvt Ltd

Manufactures: Sensors, shaft encoders, measuring instruments, and components for automatic image processing

Switzerland-based Baumer Group is setting up engineering, training and assembly operations in Pune to manufacture electronic pressure sensors. The company plans to invest US$ 10 million over the next two years and increase its manpower from 30 to over 100. In the next phase of expansion, Baumer plans to manufacture encoders and sensors.

Bosch Group

Manufactures: Power tools for professionals, sensors (MEMS) for consumer electronics, security systems, solar inverters, auto parts and accessories

Bosch Group has completed a 5 MW solar power plant, which it designed and built for Sri Vinayaga Green Power Generation Pvt Ltd in Tamil Nadu, spread over a 23-acre plot. The solar power plant has been provided with mono-crystalline silicon solar panels and high-efficiency central inverters. This plant is estimated to produce 7.6 million KW-hours, which will be sold to third party power consumers. Bosch is also building two other solar PV plants of 1 MW each in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.

Shenzhen Coship Electronics Co Ltd

Manufactures: Set-top boxes

Shenzhen Coship Electronics Co Ltd has plans to set up a facility to manufacture set-top boxes (STBs) in India, with a capacity of around 0.25 million units per month. Though the company is yet to decide on the location of the manufacturing unit in India, it will employ about 1000 workers in this unit. The company aims to keep the cost of manufacturing one STB to around US$ 21.

Eon Electric

Manufactures: Energy meters, lithium-ion batteries and LED lamps

Eon Electric is planning to ramp up its manufacturing capacity at its LED lamp plant at Haridwar, from 0.1 million units to 1 million units per month, by March 2015. The company intends to spend close to Rs 2000 million to increase capacity.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd

Deals in: Power and transmission, renewable energy, defence, industrial electronics

BHEL is planning to manufacture solar wafers in Sakoli plant in Maharashtra. It has invested Rs 30 billion on this venture, and will use indigenous technology to make the wafers, cut from crystalline silicon ingots. This will help reduce the cost of photovoltaic cells. This plant will also manufacture solar cells and modules.
