According to the recent report by ET, Sterlite Technology and Common Services Centres (CSC) Academy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) in optical fibre networking. The companies have come together to create highly-skilled fiber deployment specialists in rural India.
About the plan
Under the MoU, STL Academy plans to conduct a certified training program for VLEs registered with CSC. The academy will train 1,00,000 VLEs across gram panchayats. STL Academy training program will happen in over 40 cities across the country and the target is to complete it in 180 days.
Dinesh Tyagi, CEO, CSC told ET that they are delighted to partner with STL to skill rural masses in India. The companies are promoting entrepreneurship by fostering the capability and development of the VLEs under the Common Services Centre scheme.
Anjali Byce, Chief Human Resource Officer, STL told the news daily that the current requirement of the Indian telecom sector is to have a strong optical fibre backbone to carry a large amount of data. To meet these needs, a skilled workforce is required.
