Government-industry alliance to set up the four portable fuel pumps in the country

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has recently approved the concept of portable pumps and service station. Alinz Portable Petrol Pumps has tied up with Czech firm Petrocard to set up the four manufacturing units in India to make machines for such pumps at an investment of Rs1,600 crores. Following which the firm has begun work on setting up the manufacturing facilities for such pumps.

Petrol pumps to follow self-service

The portable petrol pump will be an automatic self-service machine to dispense petrol, diesel and kerosene. These pumps will be a boon for people living in rural areas, mountaineous regions and remote locations.

These pumps can be set up in just about 400 sq mts as against huge land requirement for normal gas stations. In addition, the payment are cashless through facilities like e-wallets.
Setting up portable filling stations in the country can help cut the land and time needed to set up a filling station in the country, especially in land-scarce and in difficult areas.

Well, the company is in talk with the state governments and petroleum companies for setting up of four to seven production units. The units are to be set up across the country with an investment of Rs 400 crores per plant.

Tenders will be released by state authorities

As per communication of the firm with the state authorities and oil marketing companies, it is expected that the state governments will float a tender. Who so ever will be able to bag the tender is eligible to set up a portable petrol pump.

Machines will be installed to the respective petrol pump and will be of different capacities. The smallest machine has a capacity of containing 9,000 litres of oil and the largest one will be of 30,000 litres capacity.

However, the company is targeting to produce 50,000 portable petrol pumps in the country over five to seven years for retailers, railways and also for exporting it to neighbouring countries.
