EB@TAITRONICS ’17-Day 1: Govt to set up special desk in MeitY for Taiwanese manufacturers

The 43rd Taipei International Electronics Show organised by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA) kicked off at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1 on the 11th October. 

The show started off with the opening ceremony, followed by TAITRONICS 2017 procurement meetings, AIoT smart city forum and the 12th annual general meeting of FAEMA . Ajay Prakash Swahney, Secretary. MeitY was the chief guest of honor at the opening ceremony.
Swahney said, “It is indeed a great pleasure to be a part of the opening ceremony at the 43rd Taipei International Electronics Show. India is one of the fastest growing markets in electronics. We are witnessing a huge increase in domestic production in the electronics sector in India and we expect a very robust growth in the upcoming years. We will shortly embark upon setting up a Taiwan desk in MeitY to help investors from Taiwan who would like to invest in India, to explore the opportunities and make their investment happen in a smooth manner”.
He further said, “Tomorrow ie, 12th October, the first India-Taiwan collaboration summit will be jointly hosted by CNFI (Chinese National Federation of Industries) and III (Institute for Information Industry) along with FICCI, where I invite all the Taiwanese delegates to come and meet people from the Indian industry as well as from the state government and take ‘Make in India’ to a next level”.
During the opening ceremony Ming Hsin Kung, deputy minister of economic affairs (MOEA)  announced the successful accomplishment of Taiwan ICT industry and government’s determination to invigorate domestic collaboration with South East Asian countries.
James C F Huang, chairman of Taitra unveiled the themes and highlights of Taitronics 2017. He addresses, ‘Ministry of electronics and information technology of India has made a great connection with Taitronics for several years. They not only organize a national Pavillion again this year but also lead a delegation to visit Taitronics’.
This year, the show is hosts 1,050 booths with 530 exhibitors. A total of 3,547 international visitors are attending the show and around 20,507 local visitors are expected to mark their presence. The major fragment of international participation is coming from China, Japan, USA, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, UK and Thailand.
The key exhibit areas of 2017 are energy-efficiency solutions, smart manufacturing, smart living and consumer electronics, broadband and communication, cells, batteries and power supplies, industrial process and automation equipment, electronic components and parts, active and passive components, meters and instruments and LED lighting and its applications.
The feature pavilion of this year’s exhibition includes AIoT pavilion, start-up pavilion, smart devices and IoT application pavilion, the pavilion of green technology living certification, cloud computing association in Taiwan Cloud and IoT pavilion ‘Made in Taiwan’ product theme pavilion.
