DeitY approves electronics manufacturing cluster for Pune

The department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) has approved a dedicated electronics manufacturing cluster for Pune. The cluster will help the local electronics industry in indigenous manufacturing and to move up the product chain.  

The Pune cluster is spread over 2508.38sqm in the Pimpri industrial belt. It will provide common facilities for production, R&D support services to local electronics firms.   

The Pune cluster was proposed by the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) in partnership with the Mahratta Chamber Of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA). The association has collaborated with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the Chamber of Marathwada Industries & Agricuture (CMIA) for the project. After the final approval, it will take six to nine months for the common facilities centre to be fully operational.

According to the reports, IESA also plans to set up an incubation centre in Pune as per instructions from the MIDC. Both the centre and the cluster will become operational by early 2016.
