US-Based National Instruments banks upon Indian market potential in automotive industry

national instrumentsTuesday, September 23, 2014: The US-based global test and measurement solution provider, National Instruments aka NI, is quite hopeful about the business prospects in India. The Indian automotive industry is one of the fastest growing markets in the globe and NI wants to explore every possible corner of this rapidly growing market, which has the latest technologies. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary in India is located in Bangalore which serves several industries with its software and hardware solutions.

According to AUTOCAR Professional, Chief Operating Officer of NI, Alex Davern, spoke at a press meet in Bangalore, where he said that the company has achieved a global revenue of $1.2 billion in the last fiscal year and the automotive industry contributed 7-8 per cent into it. The business scenario for the company in same in India too. He didn’t reveal the turnover figure in India as his company policy doesn’t allow him to do so. He agreed that Indian market is very important to maintain their global presence in the automotive sector.

As per Davern, Asia contributes around 35 per cent to the company’s global revenue and in the whole region, India is one of the most important regions. Davern spoke at NIDays 2014 in Bangalore which is an annual conference by the company, held for its customers and partners across industriles like automotive, aerospace, robotics and telecom. Emerging Markets & Asia/RoW VP Victor Mieres said the the company’s India branch has more than 300 employees, among whom 120 are dedicated to the R&D activities.

National Instruments’ tools improve the development process as they provide a platform for automated testing. Their flexible hardware and software tools conduct efficient tests throughout the production process. The measurements cater to areas like Engine Management System, Infotainment and Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The company also arranged stalls at an expo where solutions were demonstrated for different technical platforms. Some software upgrades were also displayed at the expo. The conference went on for an entire day and there were several technical sessions. The automotive sector sessions attracted the largest interest from engineers as well as scientists. More than 800 engineers, academicians and researchers were present at the expo.
