Saturday, December 07, 2013: Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced stock of Omron Electronic Components’ XF3M Series FPC/FFC connectors. Digi-Key is the first distributor to stock these highly efficient and reliable connectors.

Omron pioneered the design and production of Rotary Backlock Mechanisms on FPC connectors. With this model type, the slider is located on the backside of the connectors, enhancing efficiency and reliability significantly over traditional locking mechanisms. Compared with traditional rotary lock connectors, the XF3M FPC Connectors eliminate the need to unlock the latch, therefore improving assembly work productivity. Models are available in either 0.5 mm or 1.0 mm pitch.

“Omron is excited to partner with our longtime distributor Digi-Key in order to release our new XF3M FPC connector to the market,” said Tim Hession, marketing manager at Omron. “There are numerous applications and end-products the XF3M product fits into well, so we are glad to work with them to reach these customers quickly.”

Features of the series include the rotary backlock mechanism for reliable connection, a dual contact structure, and unique design which provides improved insertion of FPC/FFC cables to help confirm proper connection with a sure-lock feeling. Markets for these reliable connectors include display interfaces, building automation, medical devices, and more.

“Omron has long been a trusted supplier of top-quality connection products and a valuable partner with Digi-Key,” said Tom Busher, vice president, global interconnect, passive, and electromechanical product at Digi-Key. “We are pleased to be the first to stock these superior products and we look forward to offering them to our broad global customer base.”
