India Launches iCHIPS: International Consortium for harnessing India’s potential in Semiconductors

The consortium aims to assist in product conceptualization, technology mentoring, and funding support.

The Indian Semiconductor Diaspora recently united at TiE Silicon Valley for the launch of ‘iCHIPS: International Consortium for harnessing India’s potential in Semiconductors.’ This launch was a part of the ‘Invest in India Semiconductors’ event on September 12 in Silicon Valley. Dr. Satya Gupta, president of VLSI society of India shared this in a Linkedin post.

The event saw participation from over 50 semiconductor technologists, successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and angel investors. TiE Silicon Valley hosted the event with support from the VLSI Society of India (VSI) and MosChip.

iCHIPS is designed to encourage collaboration between the Indian semiconductor community in the USA and Indian/cross-border Semiconductor product and IP companies. The consortium aims to assist in product conceptualization, technology mentoring, and funding support, leveraging the extensive investor network in the USA. iCHIPS will engage with multiple organizations in Silicon Valley to raise awareness about India’s capabilities in semiconductor products and the government’s incentive policies.

Notable speakers at the event included Anita Manwani, President of TiE Silicon Valley; Dr. Satya Gupta, President of VLSI Society of India; Naveed Sherwani Shewani, CEO of Rapid Silicon; Balaji Baktha, CEO of Ventana; Jayaram Susarla from MoS Chip; and Harshad Mehta. They emphasized the consortium’s potential to enhance technological collaboration between the USA and India.

TiE Silicon Valley (TiE SV), the largest and original chapter of the TiE brand, is a non-profit organization focused on encouraging entrepreneurship. This chapter is committed to supporting technology entrepreneurs by offering various resources including mentoring services, networking opportunities, educational programs related to startups, financing, and incubation.
