Government has recently done the last minute revision of its tender for acquiring electric cars for the use of the state as several companies objected by saying that the specifications listed initially were drafted to benefit a particular manufacturer.
The government has revised the tender for acquiring electric cars for the use of the state after several companies objected the specifications in the earlier draft were suited to benefit a particular manufacturer.
The changes are likely to increase the number of participants for a tender floated by the state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) on August 15 for procuring 10,000 electric cars and 4,000 chargers for coal, mines, power and new & renewable energy ministries as well as for providing them on rent to other departments.
The bidding process is on and the bid is due on September 28th. In an earlier interaction with, Electronics Bazaar, Saurabh Kumar has said, “We hope to close the bid in the first week of October and we should start seeing the vehicles on the ground in a month’s time.”
In the revised document, EESL has removed the initial requirement that the type of cars should be sedans to open the bid for other manufacturers and enlists the required safety features.
As per the revised specifications, several auto manufacturing companies such as Tata Motors Ltd will become eligible to bid for the tender.
