The latest in LED drivers and controllers

Friday, November 08, 2013: LED drivers and controllers are current control devices that replace the need for resistors. These drivers respond to the changing input voltage while maintaining a constant amount of current (output power) to the LED, as its electrical properties change with temperature. They are commonly used for blinking, dimming and colour mixing of LEDs in various applications, and are classified into three groups—voltage-switch drivers, constant-current drivers and Flash LED drivers.

In this section, we feature some of the LED drivers and controllers that were launched in the last six months. However, companies like STMicroelectronics, Infineon and NXP Semiconductor have not launched any new LED drivers and controllers during this period.
