Chief Minister Of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the world’s first thermal battery plant in Amaravati on August 6. It is considered better than solar energy and a good alternative to fossil fuels.Â
World’s first thermal battery plant has been developed in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. On August 6, it was inaugurated by N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The plant is owned by Bharat Energy Storage Technology Pvt Ltd (BEST) and it uses new technology that will help the state in reducing its carbon footprint by nullifying its dependence on factors such as weather.
This new energy storage option will have wide range of commercial application and it is considered as a better alternative to fossil fuels as well as solar energy in some ways.Â
A thermal energy battery is used for thermal energy release and storage. The battery allows the energy to be stored permanently and released when it is necessary.Â
Thermal batteries operate on thermal energy and unlike lithium-ion batteries they are much eco-friendly and last longer. By using this technology, Andhra Pradesh plans to become 100 per cent eco-friendly. The project will help in electrifying the rural and urban areas and provide thousands of jobs in the next three years.Â
The application of thermal batteries is vast, it can be used in power grids, telecom industry and electric vehicles.Â
