Ericsson and Vodafone have recently announced the launch of a preemptive support service for private 5G networks which are expected to utilise AI/ML to assure the efficiency of operations at the Foxconn manufacturing facility in Komárom, Hungary. The two partners are working in tandem to co-create the service continuity for multiple private networks solution, which is a unique support service for 5G networks, custom designed for the demands of Vodafone enterprise customers for example Foxconn, an electronics manufacturer and technology solutions company.

The electronics manufacturer mainly relies on non-fixed 5G-based test cars, where the manufactured PCs experiment before packaging at their plant in Hungary. To provide a private network which can connect these test cars as reliably as possible, Vodafone and Ericsson have in tandem developed and deployed the custom-built Service Continuity based on AI/ML for private network support and technical assistance for businesses that is aimed at smooth network operations.

The service Continuity service for private networks, a technology based on AI/ML, can sense in advance if an error might hamper the overall system performance. Remedial actions are then taken by Vodafone locally together with Ericsson’s centralised team to avert such occurrences, thereby ensuring uptimes that are higher than conventional telecom networks.

Mátyás Dobó, Vodafone Business Director, says: “We are very conscious of the trust placed by Foxconn in Vodafone and have worked jointly with Ericsson to create this unique technical assistance offering for enterprises to ensure that the operation of their private networks is free of unplanned interruptions.”

Nello Califano, Head of Strategy and Portfolio Management, Ericsson Business Area Networks, says: “We are constantly working with Vodafone to evolve the private networks space for enterprises, and this AI and ML-based support service is a testimony to that work. We are pleased to collaborate with Vodafone Hungary to ensure that enterprises like Foxconn can become wire-free in their operations, communication, and connectivity requirements. Added to this is the flexibility to change production setup without disruption, and to adapt to changing business needs.”
