TRI collaborates with Nvidia, enhancing manufacturing with intelligent solutions, driving efficiencies, and also unlocking productivity in the electronics industry.

Test Research, Inc (TRI) is set to partner with Nvidia Metropolis for Factories to expedite the integration of AI driven technologies to optimise manufacturing processes through enhanced automation and defect detection. This collaboration empowers manufacturers with intelligent solutions, driving efficiency, and boosting productivity in the electronics industry. TRI also aims to enhance performance by utilising NVIDIA’s AI software stack and computing capabilities.

Jim Lean, Vice President of Test Research, Inc highlighting the potential to deliver innovative, future-proof solutions to customers in the electronics manufacturing sector. He emphasised that with NVIDIA Metropolis for Factories, TRI is poised to drive AI adoption in smart factories, enabling manufacturers to embrace tomorrow’s technologies and stay ahead of the curve.

NVIDIA Metropolis for Factories offers a comprehensive workflow for developing, deploying, and scaling AI-enabled visual inspection applications. From edge to cloud, this platform supports data labelling, model training, and integration, enabling industrial technology companies to develop customised quality-control systems.

TRI leverages Metropolis for Factories to develop highly accurate inspection applications, such as automated optical inspection (AOI), leading to increased production line throughput, reduced costs, and improved production quality.

With TRI’s AI verification advancements, the detection rate of components has significantly improved, with AI detection accuracy for general chip defects now exceeding 99%. Specific improvements include enhanced detection rates for various components, including OSC, MLD, SOD, SOT23, RNET, and CNET. AI-powered defect detection has also significantly reduced false case rates for complex components like the Paladin connector.

TRI’s AI Smart Programming facilitates predictive decision-making, reducing programming time, downtime, and operator training. The AI Verify Host, a smart repair station, reduces the need for manual re-inspection and lowers operational costs. TRI’s AI Station optimises inspection processes, while the AI Training Tool generates AI models from existing inspection data, further streamlining operations.

TRI will utilise NVIDIA Triton Inference Server software and the NVIDIA TensorRT software development kit to accelerate AI inferencing for cutting-edge AI-powered solutions in test and inspection, and smart factories for the electronics manufacturing industry. These AI-driven capabilities will enable manufacturers to readily adopt and benefit from innovative AI-powered solutions.
