Top Drone Manufacturers and Service Providers: Drone II

China, France and Israel saw significant growth in drone manufacturing.

The DRONE II 2023 report on drone technology has ranked DJI as the leading manufacturer, with Skydio, a US-based company, rising to the second spot. The rankings are based on various indicators, including company size, market share, social media presence, funding, and revenue.

DJI’s continued dominance is a testament to its comprehensive presence in the drone market. Meanwhile, Skydio’s advancement highlights its growing impact in the civil drone manufacturing sector. The top five also include China’s XAG, France’s Parrot, and JOUAV from China, reflecting the industry’s global diversity.

Significant shifts were observed in the rankings this year, with 15 out of the top 20 civil drone manufacturing companies experiencing changes in their positions. Autel Robotics (China) saw the most significant rise, followed by Delair (France), and both Percepto (Israel) and American Robotics (USA).

The rankings for dual-use drone manufacturers, which cater to both civilian and defence sectors, were also released. Insitu from the US topped this list, followed by Schiebel (Austria), Edge Autonomy (US), Quantum Systems (Germany), and IdeaForge (India).

The Drone II report also categorised top drone service providers with Aerodyne Group  (Malaysia), Terra Drone (Japan), Cyberhawk (UK), Nordic Unmanned (Norway) and Field Group as top five. Top drone delivery providers included, Zipline (US), Wing (US), Matternet (US), Swoop Aero (Australia) and Manna Drone Delivery (Ireland).

The report reflects a global and dynamic drone industry, with European firms leading in service provision and U.S. firms at the forefront of drone delivery. These rankings not only reaffirm DJI’s industry leadership but also highlight Skydio’s emerging prominence, illustrating the competitive and evolving nature of the drone manufacturing industry.
