Over 100 companies have shown their interest in setting up units in the upcoming Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Jharkhand’s Adityapur Industrial Area.

The recently-held International Trade Fair in New Delhi, where the emerging electronics hub had also put up a stall in the Jharkhand pavilion, provided the interested companies to weigh in on the benefits to investing in the project.

The EMC, which is supposed to be eastern India’s first and largest one yet, was inaugurated by the Jharkhand state government in December last year with an aim of the state an electronics manufacturing hub.

The EMC’s consultant, Ashok Kumar Bihany who attended the international trade fair said, “Many of the companies have already started consulting us regarding paying a visit to the upcoming electronic hub. Moreover, from next week we are also going to speak to other prospective companies which have interacted with us at the international trade fair.”

The consultant pointed out that there are four blocks of 92 flatted factories on the EMC premises which are spread over a sprawling area close to Jamshedpur.

“As of now, only two entrepreneurs have set up electronics units whereas space for 90 units is lying vacant. We expect the space will be filled up once the interested companies start exploring opportunities here,” said Bihany.

He also informed that apart from the flatted factories, the EMC has 49 acres of land in which 51 plots have been developed. He added that out of the 51 plots 31 have been already allotted to set up electronics manufacturing units and the remaining 20 which are still lying unallotted can be availed of by the interested companies.

Through this EMC project, the Jharkhand state government plans to bring investments into the state and usher employment opportunities for the skilled youth of Jharkhand.
