Kaynes Technology is a leading player in the electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM) services space with a global footprint. Apart from its mother plant and additional manufacturing facilities at Mysuru, it has six other manufacturing plants at Bengaluru, Chennai, Manesar, Parwanoo, Dehradun and Navi Mumbai.
The company was established in 1988 by Ramesh Kannan soon after his graduation from the National Institute of Engineering. He always wanted to be an entrepreneur, and some companies in the Mysuru region such as L&T and Wipro had good vendor development programmes that offered a perfect opportunity for his ambitions.

Services offered by the company

  • Electronic design, manufacturing, products and systems integration services
  • Prototyping, sourcing, turnkey manufacturing and support services of high tech/high mix, as well as medium volume electronic products/systems
  • Manufacture of PCBAs, box building, product and systems integration, and OEM manufacturing
  • Assembly and manufacture of military grade cable/wire harnesses
  • Design and development of embedded products/systems/FPGA based systems
  • Component level hardware repair, design development, re-engineering, and obsolescence management services and support

Manufacturing at a glance
Kaynes has strong teams for process design at all stages of manufacturing. The company adopts lean manufacturing techniques at different stages of its operations. The Kaynes technical team has a thorough understanding of the various hardware and software platforms available across the industry, along with application-specific requirements. “The company has carried out more than 40 technology transfers from across the globe, into India. Kaynes has separate technical teams for electronics, mechanical, manufacturing infrastructure and manufacturing processes,” says Ramesh Kannan, president and managing director of Kaynes Technology. It has the technical competence to design and develop jigs, fixtures, test benches and simulators for manufacturing and testing processes. The company has the competence to build custom functional simulators and testers to meet its product qualification and validation needs.

Complete customer centricity, transparency, systems development, global certifications and, most importantly, providing end-to-end manufacturing as well as design services support, backed by after-sales services, all add up to a unique proposition. Kaynes’ wide range of skills in technology transfer, manufacturing, development, competence in the emerging design services areas of IoT, board design, as well as its newly developed capability in systems integration on electronic packaging are a testimony of its global standards and competitiveness. Its capability in high tech wiring harnesses and cables places it high on the list of preferred suppliers for most companies looking for a professional electronics manufacturing and design services firm. “We have an in-house team for complete quality testing and certifications including CE, UL, TUV, FDA, etc. We have in-house facilities for electrical testing, thermal cycling, environmental testing, etc,” says Ramesh Kannan.

Major equipment

  • Six SMT lines enabled with laser markers

Kaynes’ take on ‘Make in India’
“Make in India is a great opportunity to scale up and add capacity in higher technology areas. It has provided us a platform to relate our story to clients effectively. It has created a lot of attention from hitherto dormant customer bases. It will surely help to scale electronics manufacturing many times over in India,” Says Kannan.
