  • The government to offer incentives and subsidies for renewable energy projects
  • This law will attract more private and international investments in the renewable energy sector

The president of Indonesia has recently approved a new law to encourage the country’s renewable energy sector. The agenda is to promote the development and use of clean energy sources.

This law will attract more private and international investments in the renewable energy sector. It sets targets for increasing the use of clean and sustainable energy sources, such as solar power plants, throughout the archipelago.

Through this law, the government has planned to offer incentives and subsidies to encourage the development of renewable energy projects. Also, it will strengthen the state-owned electricity company PLN. It will purchase a certain percentage of renewable energy from private investors.

Indonesia has a vast potential to generate renewable energy. This country can also make geothermal, wind farms, biomass plants, hydroelectricity, and solar panels. Limited funding and outdated regulations have been major loopholes in this development.

The upcoming legislation is set to tackle these concerns by simplifying licensing procedures, enhancing financial accessibility, and providing enticing incentives to investors. Additionally, it seeks to establish a friendlier atmosphere for renewable energy ventures, encouraging increased involvement from domestic and international stakeholders.

Indonesia’s government’s drive towards renewable energy aligns with worldwide endeavours to diminish greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change. By broadening its energy mix and decreasing its dependence on fossil fuels, Indonesia aspires to support global sustainability objectives while generating fresh employment prospects and stimulating economic development.
